The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has revealed on a Twitter post that the Federal Government is committed to keeping the National Youth Service Corps scheme alive.
He said this using his official Twitter handle on Wednesday, few days after a bill calling for the scrap of the scheme passed second reading in the House of Representatives.
According to Dare tweet, the NYSC scheme remains one of the greatest tools for National development for the youths. The commitment of the government to sustaining the NYSC
Going further, he said that the Dynamic Reforms and Initiatives towards current realities are
ongoing and Nigeria will stand with her youths.
Of course the prayers of the bill in the House of Reps had gone in line with many Nigerians on social media who insisted that the scheme had
outlived its usefulness, and as such, is no longer useful to be continued. Social media users also pointed out that the state of security in the Country, not to mention other factors, is enough
to cancel the scheme.
