INEC APPROVES ELECTORAL RESULT VIEWING PORTAL

A new dawn is here for the electioneering process in Nigeria as Independent National Electoral Commission just approved the introduction a dedicated public portal known as the INEC RESULT VIEWING that would enable Nigerians to view the results of polling units as voting ends on election day.

The commission said it would commence the innovation with the Nasarawa Central State Constituency bye-election scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2020, and thereafter be extended to the Edo and Ondo governorship elections fixed for September 19 and October 19 respectively, as well as subsequent elections.

INEC said this in a statement on Thursday by its National Commissioner and chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye.

He said, “INEC is determined to address any source of concern through enhancing the level of transparency in the conduct of elections, more so in the process of releasing results of elections.

“To further strengthen the transparency in the election result management system, the commission has decided to introduce a dedicated public portal, the INEC RESULT VIEWING (IReV), that will enable Nigerians to view polling unit results in real time as the voting ends on election day.”
